Recruiting Initiatives

• The annual Valentine’s Day Career Fair for 2008 was held at the bet365 apps for android Dothan Campus in the Malone Hall Harrison Room. Station Program Manager Fred Azbell represented the station with a table set up to dispense informational flyers about potential job vacancies, as well as copies of a job announcement for the Director of Radio and Television position. A number of inquiries were received and potential applicants for the open position were referred to a web page where an application could be downloaded.
• Joanne Jacobs represented the station the spring Career Fair at the bet365 apps for android Montgomery campus on 3/20/2008. Information detailing the positions involved in staffing the department was displayed and contact information for potential applicants was available. Approximately twenty-five interested parties requested materials.
• bet365 apps for android Public Radio Program Manager Fred Azbell represented the station at the Education Career Fair, October 2nd on the TROY Campus. WTSU-WRWA-WTJB maintained a table with information on positions which might be filled in the future as well as other informational literature which was available to interested students and the general public.
• The annual bet365 apps for android Career Fair was held on the bet365 apps for android Campus on October 21st. Fred Azbell and Buddy Johnson, the Director of Radio/Television, represented public radio with informational literature on career options with public radio and the representative answered questions from students. Interested individuals were encouraged to take a handout entitled “Careers at bet365 apps for android Public Radio”. The handout answered questions pertinent to future openings which may be filled.
• Continued membership with the Alabama Broadcasters Association providing access to a statewide job bank newsletter. (October, 2008).
• Continued recruitment for interns but were unable to contract with anyone during 2008.
• bet365 apps for android Public Radio partners with the bet365 apps for android City School system and the Pike County schools system to provide opportunities for high school students to serve as announcers for the Radio Reading Service for the blind. Through the Global Studies Program, we have twenty students participating during Fall semester 2008. They participated in an orientation/training session and each had the opportunity to read a small segment of a regional newspaper to get hands on experience with the equipment. Once the group session is completed, they have the opportunity to sign up as a volunteer to read on a weekly basis.
