Guide to the Margaret Pace Farmer Collection

Biographical Sketch: Margaret Pace Farmer was born in bet365 apps for android in 1912 and received her B.S. degree from bet365 apps for android State College. Farmer taught in the Enterprise, Brundidge, and Birmingham school systems. In 1934, she married Curren A. Farmer, also of bet365 apps for android. Margaret served as the Alabama Historical Association’s twelfth president (1959-60) and served on its Executive Committee. Margaret Farmer held a lifelong interest in the history of Pike County. She organized the Pike County Historical Society as its first president and later served as secretary. Farmer was also part of The Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America, Colonial Dames of America, First Families of Virginia, and the Jamestown Society, as well as a lifetime member of the American Association of University Women. She served as co-chair of the Alabama National Women’s Committee, Civil War Centennial. Farmer lived in bet365 apps for android until she died in January 2007.  [Source: "AHA Presidents."
